The purpose of the role
We have two streams of specialism:
Competition/Regulation role: We are seeking c和idates with experience in competition or 监管机构y economics. This also includes expertise in applied microeconomics, 产业组织, 数码市场, behavioural economics 和/or auction design.
Policy Evaluation role: If you have a strong background in applying microeconomics to policy design 和 appraisal, 这个角色是给你的. You will assess policy outcomes, conduct cost-benefit analyses, 和 provide insights for supervision, 执行, 政策迭代. While your primary focus will be online safety regulation, there may be opportunities to assess the impact of policies in other sectors regulated by Ofcom.

Your key responsibilities
You will collaborate with a vibrant team of economists, 数据分析师, 政策专家, 市场研究人员, technologists 和 lawyers on projects spanning various sectors. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing high-quality economic analysis on projects, exploring different perspectives 和 addressing key policy issues.
Gathering 和 assessing robust data 和 evidence to support your analysis.
Producing clear 和 well-reasoned documents, including publications.
Communicating economic concepts effectively in internal meetings 和 engaging with stakeholders.
Collaborating with senior colleagues 和 multidisciplinary teams to deliver impactful outcomes.
The skills, knowledge, 和 experience you’ll need for success
A solid foundation in applied microeconomics, gained through training in areas such as industrial organisation, 公共经济学, behavioural economics 和 cost-benefit analysis.
Demonstrated experience applying economic concepts in real-world scenarios within a consultancy, 监管机构, competition or consumer authority, 政府部门, 学术机构, 或受监管的公司.
The ability to interpret complex information with attention to detail, with strong quantitative skills being an advantage.
Excellent written 和 verbal communication skills.
The ability to collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams.
A degree in economics, with a postgraduate qualification being desirable but not essential.
